Tapedispatcher is a service which provides coordinated access to
all tape libraries in an organization. A single platform-independent
process written in perl keeps track of multiple tape drive access
sessions, and is capable to handle simultaneous requests to several
shared tape resources. Supported are both tapes attached locally
to a host, and those shared over a fibre channel SAN. The service
automatically executes mount requests using site-specific mount
commands that user has to provide. This product allows to avoid
dedication of often expensive tape drives to one particular
service/subsystem.
