| Summary: Backup rpm configuration files | |
Backs up all locally modified configuration files installed by the RPM system. In theory, to reinstall a computer, you only need to reinstall all the rpm:s (look in /var/logs/rpmlog) and then restore a backup created by this script. This does of course not restore any user data, web-pages or databases. It only restores the system state. You can specify induvidual packages or all packages. The modified files are saved into the tar file. If the tar file is named .tgz or .tar.gz, then the file is compressed with gzip. The tarfile will also include a file named rpmpackages that lists all installed rpms (included in the backup) and their version.
